OpenStax CNX Glossary Generator

Updated 5/10/16: Fixed issue with duplicate IDs and CNX not recognizing the link tag. Please let me know if you find any bugs!

Instructions

  • Go into the OpenStax Full-Source Editor for your module. From within the textbox, press CTRL+A to select all the code, then copy and paste it into the editor below. Press "Generate from Text" and the editor will update.
  • Alternatively, you can also export the module to a cnxml file and save it to your computer. Choose the file below and click "Generate from File".
  • New terms added to the glossary will show in the code below. You can edit the definitions by editing the "meaning" for each one.
  • To import the code into OpenStax, you can select all the code from inside the textbox below, and then copy and paste it back into the "Full-Source Editing" textbox on the OpenStax website.
  • Clicking the "Export" button will download a copy of the XML file.
  • If you want to delete any terms in your glossary that aren't tagged inside the content, check the box below before generating. Check to make sure your terms are spelled the same in both places before selecting this option.

Merge Terms

Please note: The script generates IDs automatically for each term. While this process is not case sensitive, any other differences in spelling will result in duplicate entries. You can merge duplicate terms below.

Enter the definition IDs as shown in the code for both terms. The spelling of the term tagged in the content will be changed to reflect the definition you keep.
